Faith Christian School of Distance Education has a heart for missions. For almost a decade a team of 30 of our students head to Vanuatu for ten action packed and life changing days. We believe in "walking our talk"and giving our young adults the opportunity to grow in faith while learning to serve and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
In 2020, we partnered with an orphanage in Medan and work is under way there to change the lives of hundreds of children with fresh drinking water, beds and education projects. In future, we are planning to support organisations in Africa, Papua New Guinea and the rest of the world!

Vanuatu Missions Trip 2014: Meet the Team
We have a team of 32 this year and plan to visit the villages and places we went to last year. Our biggest challenge is not being able to stay as long as each local village or school are asking us to stay for. They all want us to stay for longer than last year and give the good news message through drama, song, testimony or by helping with resources or practical projects.
Kylie McDonald Teacher
Tim and I have been married for 8 years and have four wonderful children. We feel so blessed to be a part of the Vanuatu Mission Trip. I feel like missions have been a part of me for so many years and that is why I was so excited when this opportunity presented itself!! God’s timing is perfect and when we wait on the Lord he will answer us.
We are excited to see what God does through us and others. We know those involved will come home different people as we believe the Vanuatu community will leave an imprint in hearts of God’s love, endurance and I am sure so much more.
We have recently been at a conference and loved the statement that we as Christians need to bring heaven to earth. How can we do this? I believe it is through our actions. We need to move and get uncomfortable and show people God, not just tell them! So you can be sure that God will show up because he will be in each one of us. We will be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Bobbie Duffy
I am a full time mum, grandma and great grandma. I have always believed that everyone should go on at least one mission trip and that one would never be enough once you went but my busy family has prevented me up until now. The reason I feel it is important is because life in Australia is so comfortable. We become complacent and bland unless we are vigilant ,something I must confess I have failed to do. I believe that I will grow as a result of my experience and that as I give, God will reveal more of Himself to me. As I prepare for this trip, although I am going to give of myself, I truly believe that I will be surprised by the way God will move in my life.
Sue Hill
Hi my name is Sue Hill. I am looking forward to going back to Vanuatu to help strengthen and encourage the people we have already met, and all the new people we will meet too, with the Word of God and His love. I love blessing them with the clothing and other items we take over. It is such a joy to see the gratitude on their faces. My two favourite scriptures are: Nehemiah 8:10 “The JOY of the Lord is your strength.” and John 10:10 “Thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.”
Loloma
My name is Loloma, pronounced how it’s spelt. I have five siblings, there are six kids in total. I haven’t really travelled a lot in my life so this will definitely be an experience for me. There are a few things that I would like to do and see in Vanuatu. What has really motivated me to go on this trip would probably be being able to experience a new lifestyle and being able to help with other peoples’ needs. I think that the most saddest thing in this world is that too many people take too many things for granted without knowing that there are less fortunate people who would do anything to just maybe to go to bed warm and not afraid of warlords or pirates.I would love to go to Vanuatu to help make a change and if possible help people get back on their feet and lead them towards the right path. That’s what I am wanting to get out of this trip.
Sila
My name is Sila Tupou. I’m 14 years old. This is my first year in distance education and to go to Vanuatu. I’m the third eldest of six kids. I live in Springfield Lakes Brisbane. My ethnicity is Tongan but I was born and raised here in Australia. I want to go to Vanuatu because it would be a good experience for me, I want to learn about the people,the islands, their culture and much more. I’m looking forward to visiting different villages and meeting new people. Hopefully I’ll learn some Bislama while I’m there and see the beautiful sights. I also want to sing for the villages to bring hope to them or just lighten up their day.

My favourite colours are pink, purple, blue and green and reading is one of my biggest past times. I went on the missions trip last year and while I was there I had a God experience and recommitted my life to Him. This year I want to go back and see what God has in store for me this time.

My name is Ronin Correia and I am 14, I love hanging out with friends and I love sports. I love God and I am involved in Kids and Youth ministry. I have decided to go on this mission’s trip because my friends have been raving about it and they had amazing stores I have to go see it. I want to meet the people over there and show them God’s love. I am expecting to have a lot of fun and meet some amazing people. I am expecting exotic food and seeing a different side of life.
Sean
I’m in grade ten. I’m the third oldest in a family of eight, and I live near Ipswich. As a family we attend Vineyard Fellowship Church Brisbane West. We live on a small acreage with a
miniature horse and three designer dogs. I decided to go to Vanuatu because I heard there are a few new species of Pokémon roaming around on the islands, and I want to catch some and train them. I expect to be really challenged and put out of my comfort zone.
Lily
I’m in grade 8 this year and I’m an average type student. I’m a middle child in a large family.I’m enrolled in Faith Christian School of Distance Education and do all my studies from home. My two favourite subjects are Music and Dance.This year my brother Sean and I decided to join the group organised by our school that is going to Vanuatu on a mission trip. I’m both nervous and excited about this trip and I have no idea what Vanuatu will be like, because this is my first trip. I want to go to Vanuatu, because I know it will be a challenge for me and will help me grow in my faith. I also want to see and experience what poverty is actually like. I’ve read about people in poverty but I’ve never seen or understood what it’s like. I hope that by going to Vanuatu I will be able to do something that helps people who are really in need. I want to come home from Vanuatu as a stronger Christian in my faith and understanding of God.
Jade
For the past two years I have gone on the fantastic missions trips, and particularly enjoyed performing in the markets, visiting the islands and helping out at the schools. This year I am looking forward to snorkeling, seeing friends that I made in previous years and making more. As part of the team I bring experience at performing and public speaking. Currently I am in a theater school and on Friday nights I go to another club where we do singing, dancing and perform outreaches in the community . My favorite sports are Rock climbing and swimming and other interests are art and craft. Most importantly I want to see God move and I want to grow in my faith and make a difference in Vanuatu.

I love performing in front of large crowds, I have had experience in singing, dancing and drama, I regularly attend theatre school, was in a debating team this year, and enjoy playing piano and guitar. I am so excited to be on the 2014 team and am especially looking forward to feeling God's presence and playing with the little children in Vanuatu. Jumping off cliffs, swimming and looking at the colorful fish on the reef,will be a fantastic experience as well. While I am away I would like to hear from God and talk to him, to worship without holding back and gain spiritual gifts.I am praying that everyone gets stronger in their faith and for revelations from God.

y name is Josiah, I am 12 turning 13; I love maths and science. I like basketball and cricket, and I dream of being a professional basketball player. I want to go on a mission’s trip to help the community and to share my Christian beliefs. What I expect to get out of this trip is to learn to be a better person and to appreciate what I have that others don’t. I also expect to build a stronger relationship with my mighty God.

Hi my name is Charissa I am 16. I am a Christian and a leader at Dunamis Christian centre. I come from a big family of 10. I decided I wanted to go on the mission’s trip because I went last year and it was just amazing! The people were so kind and generally welcoming. I felt I became closer to God. I am eager to share His word with others. I believe there is going to be many life changing experiences on this upcoming mission’s trip. I am believing for miracles to occur and can’t wait to experience these things with everyone that is coming.

and different perspective in my eyes. Ever since the day I made that decision it has been a battle, a battle of both spiritual and physical wars between good and evil, but the closer I get to God the easier it gets for me. So that is why I am going to this Vanuatu trip, because I would like to take my faith to an extra level into the kingdom of God to see what he has to offer me so that I can take that and use it to help those who are in need. My name is Geoff and I am 14. I'm excited to be going on this year's missions trip and once again have the opportunity to share Gods' love, being part of a team of awesome people that is being used by God to do big things. I am interested in drama and film makin g. I also enjoy playing Guitar and keyboard. By coming on this missions trip I hope to grow in faith and see God use our team to touch many lives.

My name is Jack Gillow and I am 18 years old. The three things that I love most in this life are God, family and sport. I graduated last year from Faith Christian School and I attended last year’s mission trip. Tt was absolutely incredible. The experience really opened my eyes to the importance of helping others and the joy that comes with it. One thing I look forward to seeing on this year’s trip is what God has in store for each and every member of the team, also the progress of all of villages we visited.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

My name is Dana Adams and I am the sixth of eight children. I went to Vanuatu mission trip last year and I really enjoyed being a part of changing lives and seeing the joy on peoples’ faces. I would like to be a part of Vanuatu mission trip 2014 because it is one of passions to help and missions is an amazing time. It helps me grow emotionally, spiritually and physically.
Vanuatu definitely has an impact on my life and helps me see how blessed we are. Itt has an even bigger impact on the people we are going to help. I am believing and praying that God will do phenomenal things through the team and in Vanuatu. I would love to go to Vanuatu again and spread the word of God and be a part of helping others and seeing God work through others as well. This is my third year in Faith Christain School of Distance Education and I have really enjoyed it!

Hi everyone, last year was awesome and I am really looking forward to coming again. I do tutoring and Australian Air Force Cadets once a week and run my dogs. I have been homeschooling for 18 months now.Vanuatu 2013 was a great trip for me where I got to meet new people and help in schools and villages. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for next time.

Hi everybody, I’m Samuel from up North in Mackay! This is my third year with FCS and I’ll be 17 this year. I have decided to be a part of the Vanuatu Missions Trip 2014 because I believe it is a great opportunity to help others both physically and spiritually whilst growing in my own faith. I’m passionate about reaching out in the local communities of Vanuatu through drama and building personal relationships with the people.Random facts about me: I referee paintball, I’m a Sergeant in the Australian Air Force Cadets and I study Classical Hebrew and discuss Theology (weird mix right!). My name is Jessica and I’m 16 years old, I love playing guitar and hanging with my friends and family. I’ve home-schooled all my life and I can’t wait for the mission trip. What I expect to get out of the trip?A closer relationship with God, I want God to work on me from the inside out so I can be a better person, on a mission for Him and to form great friendships with the mission team I went to Vanuatu last year and it was absolutely amazing I loved watching God work through me and the team. I can’t wait to go again this year.

Hi everyone. My passion is to dance sing and act; I love anything to do with performing. I love animals and I have also been playing the piano for quite a few years. But mostly I love God. I really want to come to Vanuatu because I would love to help out lots of people in need of help or support. I just want to help people in anyway that I can. My brother Jonty went to Vanuatu last year and says it was a rewarding and fun experience. I hope to experience what he felt last year. I am so excited and I can’t wait to meet everyone.
